Bar Manager / Chef (Deferred speciality)
You will spend your first year working in all areas of the business: kitchen, bed & breakfast and the bar. This should give you a good idea of how the roles work and allow you to choose a speciality in the final year. You will take your level 2 NVQ in the first year and the level three in the second year. When you have finished your qualification you may be offered a permanent job in our team. This apprenticeship is run by Babcock Training. You will be paid £4.50 an hour, for a thirty hour a week in the first year, which will increase subject to progress in the second year.
Chef
You will work primarily in the kitchen. You will take your Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery plus a Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles and functional skills in English and Maths at Level 1 as a minimum. When you have finished your qualification you may be offered to take your level 3 which may lead to a permanent job in our team . This apprenticeship is run by County Training. You will be paid £4.50 an hour, for a thirty hour a week in the first year, which will increase subject to progress in the second year.
These jobs are on a when needed basis. They may be at the White Horse Inn or our sister company Clun Bars Ltd. The role will be extremely varied and activities will depend on the type of events taking place and the venue. Candidates must be experienced, flexible and enjoy variety, the employer is looking for a complete “all rounder”. Candidates must enjoy looking after people in a social setting and have big smiles. Events catered for are throughout South Shropshire and may be weddings, shows, birthday parties etc. You should therefore have your own transport and be able to look smart, happily wearing a shirt and tie. Duties may also include emergency cover work in the White Horse Inn. Events will be publicised on a closed Facebook group and you must state your availability for events when they are posted, people will then be deployed according to business requirements. You will be paid £10.00 an hour by either company, this will be paid directly into your bank account as soon as possible after the event.
