Waiting Staff
You will perform the following daily tasks:
Daily duties
- Fill sauce pots and bring them out to order or at
beginning of session.
- Ensure all salt, pepper, vinegar pots are clean and
topped up.
- Ensure menus and place mats are clean.
- Keep rollup cutlery stocks topped up.
- Welcome and seat customers and hand menus to them
showing position of fixed price menus.
- Talk to guests about the menu and drinks and recommend
additions.
- Take customers' orders and pass them to kitchen staff
- Pour and serve drinks for seated customers
- Add cutlery as and when required at table e.g. for soup,
starters or steaks.
- Lay tables when diners are eating in the bar
- Serve food.
- Clear tables and return dishes and cutlery to the
kitchen.
- Scrape plates and stack them on the side ready to be
washed on return to kitchen.
- Attempt to ‘up’ sell customers puddings, coffee or
liqueur coffees.
- Make coffees.
- Prepare puddings when kitchen staff are busy.
- Make up bills and present them to customers
- Take payments for goods using money, cheques and credit
cards
- Take restaurant reservations.
- Relay tables after use, and at the end of the evening,
excepting breakfast tables.
- Prepare tables for breakfast when required.
- Be present so that customers can ask you questions and
you can deal with them quickly. Do not hang around in the kitchen.
- When not busy, in dining room try to keep both bar,
dining room and outside areas tidy, collecting glasses picking up rubbish.
- When not busy, to tidy cupboards and drawers in the
dining room.
- Washing skirting boards, light switches shelves in the
dining room.
- Make suggestions to improve the standards of service given to our clientele,
reduce waste and improve general business profitability.
